Sony rolls out the Jelly Bean update for the Xperia TX

Sony announced its Jelly Bean upgrade schedule last December and everything so far has arrived on time. The Xperia T and Xperia V already got their Jelly Bean treatment in February and as promised, now is the Xperia TX turn. We wonder what took so long, since the Xperia T and TX are basically the same phone, but still we are happy to see Sony's kept its promise. The Xperia TX update is available as of today, but the rollout is gradual so some of you will have to wait a few more days to get it. The update version number is 9.1.B.0.411 and brings the usual Jelly Bean features, including Google Now, Project Butter, improved notifications, etc., along with Sony's own changes. Now we really hope to bring the same news to the Xperia S owners soon.

China to get first official taste of Surface Pro outside of North America

China to get first official taste of Surface Pro outside of North America

Microsoft's Surface Pro will mark its first venture outside the cozy confines of the Americas by heading to China on April 2nd, according to its Weibo site. That could also mean that lovers of the convertible tablet in Australia, parts of Europe and elsewhere might also be able to grab one soon -- as Redmond indicated earlier that it would roll out in those countries around the same time. There's no word yet on pricing or where to get one, but Microsoft recently launched its flagship Chinese store on Tmall, so that would be a good place for shoppers there to start -- assuming they're interested.

Leaked ZTE Grand X Quad press photo confirms 5" display

The ZTE Grand X Quad stands right below the company's flagship - the Grand S - and comes with a 5" gapless TFT display of 720p resolution. It's powered by an undisclosed 1.2GHz quad-core processor (likely the MediaTek MT6589), 1GB of RAM. Internal memory remains a mystery, but it's rumored the Grand X Quad will pack a microSD card.
At the back, there's an 8MP camera with LED flash, purportedly capable of shooting 1080p videos. The battery is removable and has a capacity of 2500mAh. Still, according to preliminary specifications, the Grand X Quad weighs 163 grams and measures 141.0 x 70.0 x 8.9 mm.
Information regarding pricing isn't available at this time, but we suspect it should come around the same time the Grand S is bound to hit China - the first quarter of this year.

HTC Desire P and Desire Q official images surface, specs in tow
HTC Desire P and Desire Q official images surface, specs in tTC has let a couple of official photos of its latest smartphone offerings the Desire P and Desire Q make it to the web, garnished with some specs. Both devices are running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and are what appears to be replacements for the Desire SV and Desire U, respectively.ow

The mid-range HTC Desire P (T326h) is built around a 4.3" display of WVGA resolution. At the back of its plastic body there's an 8MP camera with LED flash, while inside resides a 1GHz dual-core CPU of unknown variety.
The Desire P has a few nice bonus features like Beats Audio and microSD card slot. At the front, there's also a front-facing camera. The smartphone is bound to hit China and will be offered by China Mobile for a purported price of $365.
As for the HTC Desire Q (T328h), it's smaller and cheaper than the Desire P and packs a 4" display. Its resolution is still unclear as are the rest of the specs. However, it's known to boast Beats Audio capabilities and will retail for $235 in Taiwan. It'll likely be available in China as well.
Xperia ZL up for pre-order in US, contract free from $720?

The Sony Xperia ZL is up for pre-order in the US from Sony's own retail store. The device comes in two unlocked options - an HSPA version that's up for $720 contract-free and a 4G-enabled $760 one. The latter works on LTE bands 2, 4, 5 and 17, so it should, in theory, be usable on AT&T's network. The 4G variant should begin shipping to users starting April 8.
If you're all about the speedier network access then it's more prudent to spend the extra 40 bucks for the 4G variant, but if HSPA speeds suit your data needs then $720 could be the better option. Either way the pricing is steep.
Sony says that the ZL will become available for purchase through other retail stores soon.
The Xperia ZL is the non-water resistant sibling to the Xperia Z. It manages to pack a 1080p 5" screen, 13 MP camera and Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset into a smaller footprint, so if IP certification isn't a must for you, the ZL could be the better choice.
Huawei is working on a quad-core Cortex-A15 1080p flagship?

Today some interesting rumors originating from China have surfaced. The local manufacturer Huawei is reportedly working on a direct Galaxy S4 competitor with a 4.9-inch 1080p display and a quad-core 1.8GHz ARM Cortex-A15 processor.
The rest of the rumored specs include 2GB of RAM, Mali T604 GPU, a 13MP snapper and a 2600mAh battery unit. The mysterious device is supposed to be only 6.3mm thick and get its official announcement in April.
Now this all sounds good and if it turns out true, this means we'll be getting a beast as mighty as the Samsung Galaxy S4 but with a cheaper price tag.
Of course, it might all end up being just a product of someone's wild imagination, so take it all with a pinch of salt. We'll know for sure in a month when the new Huawei gets official (or, you know, doesn't).
Motorola X Phone render surfaces, some more specs added.

We were just sent a render of an yet unannounced Motorola Android smartphone. What you see pictured below is supposedly the Motorola X Phone, which might break cover at Google I/O starting on May 15.
Along with the render came a short description of the specs, as reported by a person close to the team behind the X Phone. Since we got no proof of that information or the acual source of the tip, you'd do well to take this with more than a pinch of salt.
Anyway, the Motorola X Phone will allegedly use a Snapdragon 800 chipset and a 4.7" 1280 x 768 resolution display. The battery inside is supposedly a 4000 mAh unit, which goes in line with Motorola's recent policies.

The Android version is 4.2 Jelly Bean with a very few customizations job by Motorola. In the image (assuming that it pictures the real thing) you'll notice that the icons are stock Android.
According to the tipster the X Phone could be IP57 certified (meaning water resistant up to a meter of water for as long as 30 minutes) and have Gorilla Glass 3 screen protection. There's not going to be a microSD card slot on board.
HTC One software update improves camera performance

Back when we reviewed the HTC One, we were quite pleased with the low-light performance of the camera. However, the daylight performance wasn't quite as good, thanks to the excessive noise in the images.
The issue, of course, was not with the hardware but with the software on the phone. Thankfully, HTC has chosen to fix it in the latest software update, as was discovered by the folks over at HardwareZone.com.
According to their updated review, the HTC One running the newer version of the software provided significantly sharper images than the previous one, especially around the edges. You can see the difference in the image below (more are in the source link). However, there was one issue that was noticed, and that was the quality of the images at ISO800, which were mysteriously softer and noisier than the images at ISO400 and ISO1600.
HTC says that the final retail units will ship with this new update in April. So if you intend to purchase the phone, you shouldn't worry too much about the images that you currently see in reviews everywhere as the final quality is expected to be better.
Logitech launches keyboard folios for iPad, iPad Mini.

Your fingers will be hovering over a Bluetooth keyboard with membrane scissor keys, covered in your choice of colored fabric shell. The hardware is marked down to be available in the US and Europe in April, setting you back $100 for the iPad edition and $89.99 for the 7.87-inch version  and if you'd like to learn more, you can check out the videos we've stashed after the break.
Chevrolet Sonic TV ad features Siri eyes free integration

Ad agency McCann Erickson has created a 30-second TV spot featuring Apple's Siri eyes-free and hands-free integration in the new Chevrolet Sonic.
The spot features an actress -- inexplicably driving in circles inside a building -- using "the button to end all buttons" to ask Siri to read an incoming message and tell a bad joke. The soundtrack is reminiscent of the simple piano music and voices used in a number of Apple ads in the recent past, so it's obvious that McCann Erickson and client Chevrolet wanted to link Siri and Sonic in the minds of viewers.
Honda is expected to add Siri Eyes Free mode as an option on this year's Accord, as well as to the RDX and ILX models under the Acura brand. Chrysler, Hyundai, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, and Audi were all touted by Apple as being partners in the Siri Eyes Free program at its introduction with iOS 6 last year.
Keepin' it real fake: the Star S5 Butterfly clones its HTC namesake, skips the good part.

If you're going to engage in KIRF-ology, you could certainly do worse than HTC's lovely 5-inch slab of unibody plastic, the Butterfly. But if you want to sell it for $222.00, certain niceties have to go out the window -- like the signature 1080P screen, for instance. Star's slipped a 720P unit in there instead, while also downgrading the RAM to 1GB and swapping out Qualcomm's 1.5GHz quad-core CPU for a cheaper MediaTek model. The Chinese cloner's at least kept the other specs real, matching the kosher model's 8-megapixel rear and 3-megapixel front cameras, dual-sim option, SD card expansion slot and Android 4.2 software. Of course, nothing keeps costs down like not having to pay a designer and knowing that most of that pesky marketing's already been done for you.

Different user Windows Phone and user Android

Responses to the users of Windows Phone Evernote app was not less than the Android platform. At least this is as expressed by Evernote CTE, Dave Engberg.

On the positive side, the Windows Phone mobile phone users also do not think too long to remove her pocket. Engberg said that the average money spent by users of Windows Phone is also higher than average expenditure Android phone owners in the use of the application.
This news certainly be a very good information for developers. With the prospect of more revenue, do not be surprised if it will be a lot of application developers who will begin to arrive.
In addition, this time as the owner of the Microsoft Windows Phone OS is also the policy to divide up the money for 100 USD to the developer. The trick is not too difficult, simply by submitting a new application in the Windows Phone Store, developers are able to obtain cash 100 USD for free.
